Celebration, Florida

Last jaunt of the year - to Celebration, Fla. Has anyone stayed at the Celebration Hotel before? Accompanying friend on business trip early December and will have 3 days to wander. I'll probably do Epcot - do I need to rent a car to do Orlando shopping trip? Understand village of Celebration has excellent dining for evening fare.

Give us a trip report, okay? Our exposure to Celebration seriously creeped us out - small town America as imagined, designed and built by Disney, right down to the school system. But that's a couple of years ago; maybe the pod people have moved on.

I do not know the hotel, ...as you know Celebration is like a Walt Disney park with real people living in there...
it is close to most everything so I guess it will be ok. THere is a Columbia restaurant, the famous cuban restaurant, and other eating facilities including a good ice cream parlour and movies. In all it I think it will be better than staying in most hotels unless you go to one of the expensive Disney theme hotels.

Gardyloo, don't you know that the pop people NEVER leave Disney, they're not allowed!
Seriously though, everything about Disney creeps me out!

I really can't imagine why anyone would want to stay there. It is basically a "town". There are plenty of fine restaurants on the WDW property without having to travel to get to them. If you didn't want to rent a car, you wouldn't have to. I would consider one of the Disney hotels or stay at the Hotel Plaza near Downtown Disney. A lot more to see and do.

Celebration reminds me of the movie "The Truman Show"....All the restaurants and store fronts seem theme park like and while everyone is pleasant,it seemed fake. Creepy is a good word.
