Carlsbad Hotels
I'm planning a mid-April trip to the San Diego area with my seven-year-old son. I thought we might spend the first couple of days in Carlsbad for Legoland, flower fields, and just generally enjoying the beach town atmosphere.
I'm considering the Surf Motel and the Beach Terrace Inn. I know these are pretty basic accommodations, but they are affordable and very close to the ocean, which is what I want. Any thoughts on the relative merits of these two places? Thanks!

HI..
Live here but had to go to Tripadvisor to see the hotel and the Beach Terrace Inn looks like the way to go..
Fidel's Mexican Restaurant is so good and a block or two away!
(known for the best Chile Relleno and Chicken Burrito..all white meat)
Downtown Carlsbad is lovely..
You and your son will have a blast!
