I actually thought about that, but I'd have to take a taxi from the airport to boston downtown, then a taxi back and we'd have todeal with all the luggage v.s. leaving most of it in the car. It would still save some money. I'll look into it further. 'thanks for the suggestion.

Hi jaspert1, yep, our paths have crossed several times in the last year. I returned from Nova Scotia and PEI in July. Very nice visit. I posted a trip report on the Canada forum.
Last year I was attending a very big conference in Boston (over 10,000 in attendance). I booked the Newbury Guest House for most of my stay but ended up needing an extra night. I used Priceline for Back Bay and got the Sheraton for under $200. I was very pleased. I recommend you give it a shot since the Newbury Guest House is booked. Enjoy your visit! Boston is terrific.

I had never heard of the place you booked so I checked it out on-line. Location is great - price is good. And according to website it is very close to Aquarium stop on MBTA Blue line. Blue line goes directly to airport (no changing lines) and is only 2 stops from Aquarium. Although there is a shuttle bus that takes you from Airport stop to various terminals, it is something to consider when making car decision and transportation decision for return to airport.

You didn't give dates, and that makes a huge diffence in Boston. For example, October 19-21 is Head of the Charles Regatta (rowing teams and fans from around the world), and with so many colleges and universities it seems as if someone is having Parents' Day.

The Charlesmark Hotel, which is right on Boylston, across from the JFK public library and down the street from the Prudential Center, is a cute boutique hotel that my family has stayed at many times. It's quiet, and you can walk to dinner.

I looked at the Charles Mark online and it looks beautiful. Unfortunately they only had 1 room in our price range (we need 2)

We will be there on Oct 14th...I think a city like Boston doesn't have a "down" time. We visited there one other time and really loved it.

We have the Harbor Side Inn booked which I think will be fine. The location is good for seeing a few sights. We will only have the afternoon there unfortunately.

I think we're going to go straight to the hotel (we are coming from Nova Scotia) with the car as dropping it off at the airport and taking a taxi in will take up quite a bit of our precious time.

Thank you all so much for your replies...we leave this Sunday after many months of planning and fine tuning and we are really looking forward to it.
fly to New Jersey, then on to Quebec city, New Brunwick, Nova Scotia, Maine, Mass and fly home to Los Angeles. Lots of driving but it's what we like.
THANKS AGAIN!!!

We just returned from a long weekend in Boston on Tuesday. We stayed at the Hilton Financial District, which was a convenient walk to everywhere we wanted to go--historical sights, restaurants, waterfront etc. We won it on Priceline a week ahead for $100, which was an amazing deal. Also, we didn't have a car and took a taxi to the hotel but found it was quite simple to take the T on our return to the airport, it was about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. Hanover Street with a multitude of restaurants is only a short walk away as well.
