Can we just have one Frances thread so that we can all keep up?

I think I have adult ADD so I'm having a hard time keeping up with all the different threads.

Tandoori Girl gave me the idea when she suggested a St. Frances post (TG-St. Francis can at least keep your cat safe!).

My DH has two sisters who live on the east coast of FL in the center of the "cone" so they're coming over here tonight. Of course, if it's like Charley, Tampa Bay could be another Orlando.

Fine by me.

I just went home and looked in my cuboard.

I have 23 cans of Chef Boyardee Beeforoni to go along with the 11 cans of smoked oysters.

I have batteries and flashlights out the wazoo.

Good idea, Jayne - I keep checking to see how everybody is. Thinking of all of you in Frances' path.

Sounds good, Jayne. I just want to say the same thing here that I said on another Frances thread.

Everyone in the path of this monster is in my thoughts and prayers. I have Fodorite friends, non-Fodorite friends, and even relatives in the projected path, so I'm very concerned about this one.

Frances passed north of me this week and I was extremely relieved to only experience a small portion of her. Now I only wish the same for the rest of you, but that doesn't seem to be the case at the moment.

I'll be keeping an eye on Frances and thinking of you all. Please stay safe and don't take unnecessary risks. You can replace "stuff," but you can't replace your life.

I just picked up my son who's a high school freshman. They announced that Manatee County public schools are closed tomorrow in anticipation of using several of the schools as shelters. The principal told the kids that "the state of FL is shutting down" since it's such a huge storm. They've also cancelled the football games which is serious business around here.

I've been dragging my feet, in denial I guess, but we'll be out tonight buying water, batteries and PB &J.

I'm not feeling sorry for those of us on the west coast because we won't bear the brunt--all of you on the east coast are in our prayers.

Boone's Farm might go with Beefaroni...but not so much with the oysters. Perhaps Vodka with the Oysters as a first course and then switch to the other after?

My thoughts are with all of you Fodorites & friends down in FL. Watching and waiting to see what's going to happen & hoping you all stay safe! Trish

My Mother's in Boca Raton somewhat inland near I 95. Would appreciate any Fodorites with info on that area to keep us posted. I don't get clear info for her.

Also, any suggestions on best website for path of storm?

mclaurie, your mom is in a safe place away from the storm surge.

These are the websites I've been following:

http://accuweather.com

is another very good one for specific hurricane tracking and info. It's the site specifically used by many Caribbean governments in tracking. And, of course, there is the ever present

Thank you GoTravel! Reports from Boca are intermittent heavy winds. Acquaintances in Vero Beach have gone to the west coast. Friends in West Palm have headed further inland. Fingers crossed for all Fodorites and their family/friends.
