Whew! -- am happy to see all that other stuff is gone...
Yep, Karen, I remember the previous Camelbak discussion. (I'll look for you!) Glad to hear you got a couple good ones, too. My DH will probably carry a couple water bottles in his backpack; he didn't want one.... too bad for him.
We're leaving Saturday -- extensive road trip -- as part of it we'll be in Capitol Reef, Bryce & Zion Sept 8-12.
I can hardly wait! Are you all packed, Karen?
And for jstockler -- have you decided which ones to buy?

Boy oh boy, it was nice to see so many replies. And no one fighting about anything either, you Utah Travellers are a congenial bunch.
I ended up at EMS in the neighborhood, after a lot of trolling on Amazon and Ebay, I decided I needed to try them on. Anyway, I got a 2-L Camelbak (I forget the Camel's name but it wasn't Mule). I liked the fit of the one for women, the straps come in a bit so they don't chafe the rather large camelbaks I've been carrying on my chest since age 15. Lots of pockets for stuff but damn if I'm carrying Hubby's rocks this trip. I got him an EMS 2-L because the price was right. He Who Refuses to Go to the Store Has To Make Do.
Thanks for all your input...we're leaving Sept 17th for two weeks and I guess its time to start the Coca Cola line into the Camelback. Did the article say whether it had to be Diet, Classic, Or Cherry?

Hi J and Karen,
You guys are going to have a wonderful time! If I wasn't leaving for 3 weeks in Italy on 9/10, I'd be jealous (and I live in Utah)!
I think the thing you will discover about a camelbak type pack is that it's so easy to access your water, that you drink more. That's a very good thing in our dry, dry, dry, climate. The humidity today in SLC was 7. That is drier than usual for us.
Happy hiking!

I just want to throw in I have the Camelback Peakbagger. It's one of the largest ones on their line. I've used it in a number of day-long hiking situations and it's great.
It holds the 100oz resevoir.

travelsolo, marie [if you are reading this] and all,
Your advice has been wonderful and greatly appreciated! I haven't rinsed out our new camelbaks but the ones we got are specifically advertised as 'no taste' ones, so I guess if they do have taste, one night at the hotel will be a coke night!
We leave tomorrow morning bright and blasted early. Have to be at the airport at 5:30 which means a 3:00 a.m. wake up call for us!
Travel solo, you will know me by my red head, and my purple camelbak!
Wishing you a happy, safe trip, enough quasi affordable gas. and not too much humidity [if that is the case, I'll be the red head - with a fro - and purple camelbak.
We are going to have so much fun!!!
