Calling Fodorites in the Midwest-Got Snow?
Anyone else getting killed with snow today? Up in WI (in between Green Bay and MKE) we have about a foot. It is coming down sideways and we can't see out our windows. Schools (and just about everything else) are closed. It is pretty, but boy, I wish we bought a snow-blower about 6 years ago when we moved here.

What? No snow in Chicago???
Is it possible that it is only snowing on my house? Some cruel trick from mother nature because she knows I have had enough of snow and cold already?
Tracy, no worries about the roads, we are stuck here for eternity, it seems.

Here in SE Minnesota it has been snowing since 2 a.m. this morning. Schools are closed here, too. On a surprising note, my best friend flew from Dallas to Rochester this morning, and he made it home on time.
But today is the, uh, good day. Tomorrow it's only supposed to be 5 degrees F for a high. Yuck.

No snow in Will County IL, SW of Chicago- lots of rain and this morning heavy, heavy mists.
This entire winter except for Dec. I have felt like I was in a old era London movie with the fog, mists and heavy air. My complexion is improved from it. Will I end up getting those rosey English cheeks??
We have had the sideways stuff where you couldn't see and then it was all melted within that day. Fine by me, as I'm driving so much that I am practically living in my car right now.

hmmm, looks like it is just WI and MN that got hit hard today. We all just went outside to shovel. Let's just say the time spent getting on the snow gear far exceeded the amount of time spent outside. I will spend the rest of the day contemplating moving someplace warm. (I only buy into that "mid-west is best" motto in the summer.)

Poohgirl: I live in SE MN as well!! I am a teacher. Yesterday I rented dvd's and bought treats at the grocery in case....was up at 6 and checked: schools here running on schedule. My daughter was up at 6:10....schools closed. Yippee! I went back to bed. Later in the day my boss called to ask if I could come in and do Kindergarten screenings. Curses!! We were planning to go to our cabin in WI for the weekend, but the low on Saturday is forecast for 21 below and our woodstove just doesn't cut it when it is that bitter. Ah! Winter in Minnesota! Keep warm!

It's a very northern snow pattern this time - northern Michigan is also getting dumped on. Southeast Michigan got major thunderstorms and 50-60 mph winds last night with lots of rain, bringing in a cold front for the weekend, with continuing wind in the 20-30 mph range (which is not pleasant when the temperature is only in single digits!).
If it's going to be this cold here, I'd rather have the snow to go with it. Everything looks so bleak right now!

Ended up only getting about 7 inches in our NE corner of Wisconsin. BUT - the temp at 9 a.m. this morning was 11 below. Me timbers would shiver, if they weren't already half-froze! It's the coldest we've been here in quite sometime (tho nothing near our personal low of minus 28 about ten years ago..)
