Calling All Portlanders: Andrew, Scarlett and Others?
I had threatened to organize a get together for all of us here in the beautiful NW and travellers in town but I failed to motivate.
Before I set the date I wanted to make sure that the frequent posters in Portland are available.
I think Bridgeport Brew Pub in northwest Portland would be an ideal location. Doesn't hurt that they have great beer and food, either!
I will propose a couple of dates and the date with the most people able to attend will be the one I set. Please let me know what works best for you. If you don't have a preference just let me know that either one will work:
Feb. 21st or Feb 28th?
I look forward to meeting everyone!
Cheers!
Tamara

Hi
I cannot commit to anything anytime right now- you know, I am packing
But.....since I have the dates here, I can let you know last minute, ok?
We have to fly to Los Angeles in a month or so and I have no dates on that yet.
Did you consider Henrys Tavern ?
There is a huge amount of construction going on right next to the Bridgeport..a massive highrise and stores are going in next door.
Hope it all works for you..

Come on, Scarlett! It is about time we met up! When are you going to L.A.? Bridgeport is right on the trolley line so easy to get to. That is one of the reasons I chose it as a meeting spot.
Andrew, It will be good to see you again. Hopefully this time we will have more time to chat!
mms, I am not set on Wed. Would Thursday be better for you?

Yeah, Scarlett, Henry's is a block from the trolley stop but it gets so crowded that there is slim chance for us to get a place for a group of people. Another reason I chose Bridgeport.
I am open to other places but we will need a place that will easily hold 10-15 people and I don't see that happening at Henry's during happy hour.

I think I can make either of those dates, although Tuesdays are generally better for me.
BTW, have any of the Portlanders on this board been on the new aerial tram? I took the ride today! I didn't have a reservation, but there were some tickets available, anyway. It was a bit unnerving at the middle tower, when the tram begins to sway, but it seemed easier on the way down. OHSU has an outdoor observation deck, and the view is stunning. I recommend it to anybody visiting Portland (and the locals, too).

eurotraveler--Henry's has a great backroom, so it shouldn't be a problem. Right now my schedule week to week is up in the air...we have 2 teens, lol!
mersey--Yes, my husband rode it already. He said it was ok...not overly exciting.

My home and office are in the SW 'burbs, where we usually start happy hour at around noon. ;-) But I doubt that's the time you had in mind, right eurotraveller?
Wednesday evenings are bad for me, too. Sunday won't work either. It would be nice if it could be scheduled when other fodorites are in town. I've gathered that lcuy occasionally visits her daughter(?) who's attending school here, and there may be others.

beachbum, can I join you?
I am also in SW Portland.
Looks like we may have to arrange more than one gathering. Maybe a Thursday happy hour and a Saturday lunch? Maybe some of the Seattle fodorites would come down for a weekend thing.
What do you guys think?

Hi eurotraveler, today was a mini GTG with mms and tomorrow will be beachbum..maybe you should just get in touch when the time comes..
With the move to Buenos Aires, I am finding doing more than a lunch or coffee is pretty much impossible.
