cab to LaGuardia - how much time to allow?
Hi
How much time will it take to get to LaGuardia airport, from midtown (let's say Rockefeller Center to make it easy) on a Monday morning? is rush hour more significant on Mondays? (it is here). For a 10 AM flight, would leaving at 8 AM be enough time (domestic flight).
thanks

Well, if you're at Rockefeller Center, that means that your cab would have to take the Queensboro bridge... that brief jaunt crosstown may be a breeze or a nightmare.
I'd leave no later than 7:45. It may turn out that you have to spend some time at the airport... However, the security lines can be loooooooong on a monday morning...

I'd also get a service car to take you, those guys really know the inns and outs of driving in the city, and short cuts as well. It would also be one set price instead of on the meter, so if you are stuck in traffic, you won't be sitting there watching the meter go up and up and up and ......
YOu might try Carmel Limo or check google for limo services in the city. Several have websites so you can even book through the website.
Have a great time while you are here.

thanks everyone. no later than 8 for sure, and we'll keep 730-ish in mind.
how much are cabs, anyway? the car looks to be about 40 bucks. sounds "normal" for an airport ride. I live close to Dulles and still spend 20 per ride so 40 isn't bad for NYC.

What time of year? If you're talking about between now and New Years add at least 15 to 30 minutes to any trip. Unless it's a gridlock alert day - then you're on your own.
Depending on what airline it is (American's lines are super notorious)I would leave between 7 and 7:30.
