Buying NFL tickets
My husband and I are both long time GIANTS fans. We have never attended one of their games though. We would like to try buying tickets for a game. On their website you are instructed to join the ticket exchange which I have done and will take a crack at buying tickets that way. I was wondering if anyone attends their games though. Are you able to purchase tickets on game day?

I agree that StubHub is one of your best bets. I've bought Yankee tickets there and never felt ripped off.
Yep, been to quite a few Giants games in my time. They are a lot of fun. If you're a fan, you should go. Don't wait until the last minute to buy tickets. You'll be out of luck. Pick a few dates that would interest you and your husband and go from there.

You can ALWAYS buy tickets from scalpers at the front of the stadium on the day of the game. Have been to many, many NFL games, all over the US and not once was I disappointed. In fact, if you are willing to wait until the last minute you can get excellent seats for less than face value.
StubHub.com is ok, but you will pay through your nose. If you are traveling long ways just for one game then perhaps it's the way to go, but I never did and always got a ticket. Green Bay ticket is one of the hardest to get especially when they play my beloved Bears, yet I never had a problem getting a ticket before the game from a scalper.
It works the same way in Europe for the most popular football(soccer) teams. I'm a huge Manchester United fan and years ago I was told that it will be impossible. Not was it NOT impossible but I got a great ticket for under face value and met a person that still takes care of my ticket needs today every time I fly to Manchester just to see a match.

Few hints:
If this is your firsat time in the stadium, study the seat plan very well. Know the face value prices and finally print out the seat map to take with you.
Don't be intimidated, don't think that if you don't buy from the first guy you will be out of luck. Walk around, talk to few people, see what they have to offer. Stand to the side, listen to what they are getting offered, wait for as long as it's okay for you.
For example, we went to Bucs vs Bears game in Tampa few years ago. We started with few guys offering us tickets in the 300 section, meaning WAY UP THERE for few $ above face value. Before the game started we ended up with Club Seats for under the face value. It took some patience, some investigating, some bargaining but we ended up on the 40 yard line in the Club section for about 4/5 of the face value. The same tickets on stubhub.com were going for about triple the face value.

Keep in mind that "scalping" (tickets going for more than face value) is often illegal --- in California, it's illegal on stadium property, but not on public property (which is okay for baseball at AT&T, but at Candlestick Park, by the time you hit actual public property, it's a neighborhood you want to avoid!)

Don't know of any state where it's against the law for the buyer. It is against the law for the seller in most states and in some countries in Europe. I have never encountered any issues with the law buying tickets. I never tried to sell tickets.
Never made sense to me, as Stubhub is your basic scalper doing it on line, just not in front of the stadium...
Somehow that's different????

AA, I don't disagree that StubHub (ebay, craigslist, whatever) is basically legal scalping (or, in my words "reselling for a profit"). I'm just stating the law. I have never seen a buyer arrested, but I have seen sellers arrested. Personally, I wouldn't want to be in the middle of it.

So, as it turns out, it's illegal in many places whether its "on the grounds" or not.

yeah I agree, but my point is the OP has nothing to worry about....
I have seen some sellers busted during a transaction or shortly after, but the buyer(s) were allowed to walk away without even a tiny hint of any legal ramifications...

If you're ocal and can try out several games - and don;t care if you get a particular one buying from a local scalper on the grounds is an option - and you may or may not get a decent price. but if you traveling in especially for the game and want to be sure of a ticket an on-line seller like stubhub (not the most expensive of the scalpers) is probably the way to go.
The box office has nothing.

Do you necessarily have to see a Giants home game? You may be able to travel and see them in another city for face value. Some NFL venues do not sell out or are not sold out at this point in time. I think it would be more fun to see them in their home stadium but if it doesn't matter to you, check their away schedule.

Another hint regarding cost. Some games are considered more prime than others, depending on opponent. If you don't care who you see play the Giants, pick one of these - if you don't know which ones are in higher demand, ask someone who is a Giants fan - they will know. Sunday 1 PM games are usually the most desirable. And remember that the NFL can change times/date of games later in the season (after week something - I don't remember) - so you could end up with a Sunday night game instead of an afternoon game if you purchase in advance - obviously not an issue with scalpers on day of game.
Be more careful about "print at home" tickets as opposed to regular tickets, since a person could in theory print 10 tickets for the same seat and try to sell them all - it is the first person in the gate with that seat whose ticket is considered legitimate. I have seen this happen in Boston twice - where someone was turned away because seat/ticket was already used.

Because the Giants are always sold out in advance, there are always tickets being dumped by ticket holders that don't attend... the high demand games such as Dallas are tougher, but a less popular team yields a bunch... we took 17 people to a Bills/Giants and got everyone tickets outside... not together, but below face value... don't panic and you will be fine.... good luck!!!

Just find out the day that individual game tickets go on sale and the time, and be at your computer when they start selling them. Treat it like hot concert tickets. I would think you could pick up some when they immediately go on sale.
