budget hotels arlington
I am going to Washington in March with my husband and child for a few days. I have seen a great deal on Expedia.com for the Best Western Key Bridge for $58. I have also seen some negative reviews of this hotel. has anyone stayed there recently who could comment? Also any comments on the Quality Inn Iwo Jima or for more expensive options, the Holiday Inn Key Brige or the Marriot Key Bridge hotel in the same location would be appreciated. Comments on the convienence of the location? Can one really walk over the Key Bridge?
Alternatively, how about the State Plaze Hotel in Foggy Bottom. It has also gotten some mixed reviews, so I am not sure about it either.
Thank you

I really can't comment on any of the hotels you mentioned but given the inexpensive price of the room ($58 is very cheap for DC) I would probably steer clear of places with "mixed" reviews.
A friend once recommended the Virginian Suites (on Arlington Blvd) as a good budget place. She paid between $70 and $80 for a large suite that included a full kitchen. This hotel is included on Quikbook's slate of DC hotels and I've never had been led to a dump by Quikbook.

hi I'm not certain where the Best Western might be but the Marriott Key Bridge is right next to the bridge and yes you can walk across the bridge into Georgetown.
You can sometimes find much better rates in going to the hotel sites like Marriott.com or Holiday Inn etc. $58 does seem low and I'm not certain I'd stay there if the reviews are really mixed. I've lived and worked in the DC area for years and areas change (sometimes fairly often). If you want to sightsee in DC you might be better off taking a deal on a hotel in DC or near a subway stop. JWMarriott downtown sometimes has good rates and the Sheraton Bargolo (??) Dupont Circle usually has good rates. Just make certain you've got a good area since there's three of you.

I've stayed at the Quality Inn Iwo Jima several times now, sometimes as low as $60. It's a well maintained property, used to be a motel on Rt 50, but now still has one section like a motel, but a high-rise section as well. It's a little further walking distance to the Rosslyn Metro station than the other hotels mentioned, and has an enclosed pool and a restaurant. Virginia Suites was directly across the highway from QI, with a pedestrian bridge crossing the highway.
Last time I was there, I walked down to the Best Western, which looked ok from the outside, and was closer to both Key Bridge & the Metro than QI, but of course outside looks only can be deceptive. There's also a Hyatt and another Marriott (Courtyard?) in the area. I would stay at QI Iwo Jima anytime. I have also heard good things about Virgina Suites. Hope this helps.

Hotel, if BetterBidding is your site, would you either add a disclaimer at the top that your site is going to be not-for-profit or stop posting the URL here? As far as I know it is prohibited to promote your own websites on the Fodors forum. I have several of my own websites I would love to promote here but have not done so. If all of us decided to start promoting our sites here the forum would be full of spam and would stop being very useful...
Sure if others want to promote your site here, great (certainly I promote BFT and Priceline, of which I am huge fans), or if your site is solely not for profit (and in which case a .org would have been more appropriate), fine. Otherwise, please stop promoting your own site.
