Frank -are you flying into ATL and then out of Jacksonville? How long do you have? It's about 5 hrs from ATL to Charleston - assuming you do ok w/ traffic leaving the city. What are your goals/why are you going? Do you have any specific interest in any one of these spots or are you flexible?

We enjoy Atlanta, Charleston & Savannah. Because Atlanta is so different from Charleston & Savannah, I personally think you should include Atlanta to add something different to your intinerary.
We have visited our daughter several times at Emory, (just returned Sunday night) & enjoy Atlanta. WE have visited the MLK Center, Margaret Mitchell's House, Botanical Gardens, and the Michael Carlos Art Museum at Emory. We haven't seen the Atlanta History Center yet but would like to on our next visit. Many people on this board seem to like it. Atlanta also has tons of fabulous restaurants.
One night doesn't seem quite long enough for Savannah but that also depends on when you will be arriving in Savannah & what time of day you have to leave there. But then again, one night is better than none!

Thanks for the relpys guys. The itinerary is actually that of an escorted tour. Just trying to get opinions.
If I had my druthers, I would probably add a night to Savannah and take one away from either Buckhead or Jekyll. I guess that's the trade-off when letting someone else do the planning and most importantly the driving.

Tour group stuff:
Tour of Atlanta including CNN.
Tour of Charleston, including Ft. Sumter and Boone Hall Plantation.
Beauford Carriage Tour
Tour of Savannah including Andrew Low Home and Gardens.
Tour of St. Simons Island
Tour of Jekyll Island Historic Landmark District.
Plus leisure time to explore on our own.
This will be our first escorted tour in the USA. We did our first this Summer in Ireland and it worked out great but it was only 4 days, with 3 on our own in Dublin. We'll see how this works out. Thanks for the info.
