Bryce Park: Lodging Choices--how to pick

We are able to book Bryce Canyon lodge--motel room or Best Western Ruby Inn, which do you recommend--late July. Thanks.

If Bryce Canyon Lodge is in the park, stay there so you can easily stroll over to the rim to watch the sun come up, one of the prettiest times of day. (Sunset is magical, too, of course.) The park is magnificent, so enjoy yourselves.

Double ditto on the lodge- so handy to view the sunrise from Sunrise Point. Ruby's Best Western is a very large establishment which gets a lot of tour bus business. With a restaurant, gift shop, and other services attached to the motel, it makes for a bustling scene in a place where a slower pace is appreciated, IMO.

We (me, husband, 5 and 8 year old kids) just stayed at the BW Ruby's Inn on July 4th and yes it is a busy place but I found it convenient. After being on the road for two weeks, I used the laundry facilities in the evening while hubby took the kids to the indoor and outdoor pools. I bought some (expensive) supplies from the general store. We thought the room was decent and would stay there again. Can't recommend the attached restaurant though. Had dinner the first night and the breakfast buffet the next morning. Overpriced and mediocre food.
