broadway ticket refunds

This is a first for us...we had tickets to see Oldest Living Confederate Widow Tells All, at the Longacre Theatre (NYC)...and the show closed, are we entitled to a refund? Telecharge blew off the question by putting me on hold for 10 minutes and then some...

Usually you can mail back the tickets to the producer and get a refund. Do you know who produced it?

There's an article about the closing of the play at the Playbill website:
www.playbill.com/news/article/82850.html

The writer's name is Ernio Hernandez, and his email address is [email protected] (just click on his name in the article). He may be able to provide you with some information.

If Telecharge can't provide you with an answer, you should contact your credit card company to contest the charge. It should be negated for non-delivery of services. When you contact your credit card company, you will be asked to write a letter contesting the charges. Send a copy of the Playbill article along with a copy of the tickets. Do not relinquish control of the tickets to your credit card company. Also, you may need to contact the theatre directly for a refund, but you may have to absorb the cost of the service charge that you paid to Telecharge.

This show actually has its own website:

www.confederatewidowonbroadway.com

You can reach the producers at [email protected]

The Longacre Theatre's box office telephone number is: 212-239-6200

The press representative is:

Richard Kornberg & Associates
Tel: 212-944-9444

Also, Telecharge has a customer service toll free number outside of the New York metro area: 888-268-2020 (Monday-Saturday 9am-9pm, Sunday 9am-6pm EST). The website also offers an email address: [email protected] (says they generally respond to email messages within 48 hours of receipt).

Hope this information is helpful to you.

Just found this piece of information on Telecharge's website under the FAQ:

"I purchased tickets for a show that closed before the performance I chose. What should I do?

When a show closes, we generally contact all the customers by phone, email or mail to inform them of the schedule change. You can contact us via email ([email protected] and please include your name, your billing address, the event name, and your confirmation number if you have it) or by phone at (212) 239-2969 (in NY) or (888) 268-2020 (outside NY) in order to arrange ticket refunds. Note that while you will receive a refund for the value of your tickets and for the service charge you incurred when ordering them, we cannot refund the handling/mailing charge."

Definitely call the above-mentioned customer service number for Telecharge. I recently had a similar situation with tickets for a cancelled performance of Wonderful Town. I spoke with a customer-service representative, who told me to send back the tickets. I did and, despite what the Telecharge website says, within a couple days my credit card was credited with the full refund including ALL SERVICE CHARGES.

The last time I was holding tickets for a show that closed before the performance I had tickets for, my credit card was automatically credited before I even had a chance to check out where to send the tickets. I didn't do anything to get the refund. Maybe I was just lucky?

This should be a simple matter to handle with your credit card company. Whenever I've been charged for nondelivered goods or services, my cc co. credits me with little or no hassle. So maybe Patrick just got regular service.

No, k_999_9, in this situation, you want to work first with Telecharge, not your credit card company. Starting with your credit card company only slows down the process.
