Broadway Ticket Buying Advice

Going to NYC July 28 - Aug. 2, want to buy tickets for Rent. Right now full price can only sit in rear mezz. Should I wait and try broadwaybox closer to the time I'll be in NY???

I would definitely wait. "Rent" is currently selling only about 60% of its seats.

(At TicketMaster I found full-priced tickets in the Orchestra for July 29!)

You should also try Theatermania and Playbill. I found discount tickets for Spamalot on Travelzoo when no one else had them.

I bought some discount tickets on broadwaybox.com before I went (shows I really wanted to see).

The tkts booth (1/2 price tickets on day of show) had almost every show on sale when I was there mid-week.

Check the grosses each week on playbill.com but when the shows not selling out, you're (probably) going to be able to get 1/2 tickets the day of show.

Wicked does not fall in any of the above categories.

Thanks for all of your help. I knew I could get full price tickets but did not want to pay full if I didn't have to. I know I will have to spend alot of money coming to NYC but I am trying to be smart about what I am spending.

Starrs I really love your trip report. Am I nuts to stay at the LaQuinta in Queens. From what I can gather it seems to be 3 blocks from the 7 subway so didn't think that was too bad. Also it is $152 plus tax a night compared with $300 or over. Tried the LaQuinta Manhattan where you stayed but it's not available.
