Braxton Hotel - Washington DC
I just came across the Braxton Hotel at 1440 Rhode Island Ave NW Wash DC at $69 a night on Wotif. I live in Maryland and wondered if the place is ok or what?? The location seems good and safe. Bardo or Shane do you know anything of it?

The location is fine -- I've stayed at Helix which is virtually next door. 15 Ria is a short walk away which is a nice stop for drinks and/or dinner.
However -- I would strongly urge you to read the reviews on TripAdvisor before you make your decision. It is rated at almost the bottom of hotels reviewed in DC.

It looks like a complete fleabag. I walked by it the other day and wondered, "I wonder why people stay here." It could be a diamond in the rough, but on the outside it appears to be seedy.
There's a Comfort Inn on 13th Street that would probably be a better bet and looks less seddy.

Agree: great location, convenient to restauarants, etc. HOWEVER, it looks like a dump.
It appears to get some overflow from the hostel over on 11th. I am in that area a lot (usually chilling at Caribou) and notice that about all the guests are under 25.
If your only frame of reference for comparison is a trashy college dorm room (i.e. a guys room), maybe it won't seem so bad. It IS the cheapest in DC.
