For clothing, bring layers. It will likely be chilly in the evenings at least. And definitely bring bad weather clothing, it has been raining a LOT.

We're having a bad year for foliage. Well, the good news is it is late, so you almost certainly will see some color on the trees. But its very drab this year, and the leaves seem to be washed off the trees by the rain shortly after they turn. As to whether you will see any of this foliage, it depends on where you are going in New Bedford. You won't see it on the highway, really, but if you are getting off the main roads, sure you should see some.

You should be fine taking the T from Logan to Back Bay with light luggage, though if it's raining, opt for the taxi. One good Irish bar is Jacob Worth on the southern end of Chinatown, near the Tufts Medical Center. The food is not wonderful, but the beer is great and it's a good atmosphere.

For clothes, you'll want layers - could be 70, could be windy and 40. If you are looking for good foliage, you'd want to head north - not south to New Bedford. I wouldn't have high expectations this year though.

Jacob Wirth's is not an Irish Bar, it's German and that's why the beer is so good. It was built in 1868 and it's a real experience to dine there.

There are three bars I would recommend: Green Dragon down the street from Fanueil Hall/Quincy Market; Mr. Dooleys on Broad Street (also near Fanueil Hall/QM) and the Grand Canal on Canal Street near North Station. All have great Guiness. As far as the weather, it can vary this time of year. Be prepared for varying temps and also rain. Regardless of weather, Boston is a great place to visit. Enjoy our city.

topping, so orourke can see the answers to his question rather than re-posting.

Obviously I had one too many glasses of wine when I put Jacob Wirth's out there. Apologies...but worth visiting for the German experience!
