Boston Help!
Several members of our family are flying into Boston and then driving to New Hampshire for a family wedding. We will be touring NH and Maine and then back to Boston. We have a hotel in downtown Boston for a few days but wonder if there is some place we can park our car cheaply outside Boston and just use subway, etc. while we are in the city. If we used the hotel parking it would be $25-30 per day. How much would parking be at the airport for a couple of days? My Sister from Berlin Germany has rented the car and will be using it after we leave. Any suggestions?

You can park at the economy park 'n fly lots for about $15/day. They all have shuttles every 15 minutes or so that take you to the airport. You can then take the airport shuttle bus to the T (subway), and take the T back to your hotel downtown.
Afterwards, it will be very easy for you to get around the city without a car. It's a bit of work, but whether it is worth it to you or not depends on your time/budget.
You might also want to do a search for Boston on this talk forum, as I believe parking has been covered quite a bit recently.
Have a good time in BOS.

You may also look into parking at the Riverside lot in Newton. It's the last stop of the Riverside T station on the Green Line, and I've heard parking is about $2/day and I also believe you can leave a car overnight. I hope someone else will verify this, or you can check the mbta website.

Since I know this topic has been done extensively on this board, I checked a few "search" entries and the one which yielded the most and current results was "Parking in Boston" Try it - there have been some good suggestions in the past months.
That said, in Boston as in many older and congested cities, there is rarely a certain cheap and convenient parking solution that fits all people. You usually trade convenience for cost.
There are some airport off-property lots that charge around $15/day and they involve a shuttle ride to lot from airport, which can run on a somewhat random schedule.
Many MBTA lots, official or just near-by a stop will not let you park a car overnight, and are stricter about "abandoned" cars since 9/11. Check carefully.
Check costs - it might be cheaper to unrent the car after your out-of-state trip and then re-rent a car for your sister to use. Be careful of liability regarding who rents the car. In most cases, except for a spouse, you need to be present and show them your driver ID when it is rented to be covered on the rental. Some companies even charge extra-driver fees.
