Big Island--Hapuna Prince or Marriott
Hello,
My husband and I are going to Kauai and the Big Island in December. We've already booked the Marriott Waiohai for Kauai but are still considering a hotel for the big island. We can stay at the Marriott for $195/night or the Hapuna Prince Hotel for $295. Is the Hapuna worth the extra $100/ night? Thanks!

We stayed at the Hapuna Prince for Christmas and loved it. We've been to the Mauna Kea several times over the years, but the Hapuna is much nicer and the beach is the best on the big island.
Congratulations on your rate!

The Outrigger Waikoloa Beach Marriott is a good value for ~$200/nite. It has historic fish ponds and a sandy crescent shaped beach with decent snorkeling, and occassional turtles.
Across the street are the convenient $)King's Shops, includes a ~o) starbucks

A scenic 15-20 minute walk from the OWB-Marriott along the coast takes you to the Hilton Waikoloa (Hawaii's Disneyland).
The only potential concern I can think of would be the state of the ongoing condo construction between the Marriott and the Hilton. When we were there in March in an ocean front room behind the fishponds, the construction noise did not affect us. Would suggest staying in a wing farthest away from the parking lot/condo construction. Have not stayed at the Hapuna Prince.
