best western dry creek inn healdsburg
ok.. im always the one spending too much on ritzy hotels-- especially in hawaii.
but, now my hubby and i are going out to napa and sonoma.. i've been twice before.
i couldnt get into madrona manor-- and it's just too much to spend anyway.
i got a reservation at the dry creek inn for $99/night. it doesnt sound too bad from the reviews i've read.. anyone stayed there?
i love the location-- i want to be close to dry creek road and all those wineries and love healdsburg.
thanks,
aimee

Aimee, I haven't stayed there, but passed by it a few weeks ago. It's a little ways to the center of Healdsburg, but right off the interstate. I imagine it would be a bit noisy and not much charm. Have you considered a small room in a B&B? Camellia Inn has some not too expensive rooms, as do a few others in town including Midnight Sun which has a room for 145. You get breakfast, too! There are some other good deals at B&Bs away from the towns, but still in the Wine country. There are some real bargains in Cloverdale- the Abrams House is charming and dirt cheap! The Mountain House Winery and Lodge, Vintage Towers Inn are nice, too. I love the area, but wouldn't want to kill the romantic part of it by staying at a chain hotel!

We have stayed in town at the Camellia Inn and also at the Geyserville Inn. We stayed at eh BW because we could for one night for a 40th. It's nothing special, right next to the freeway!. See if you can book at the Geyserville Inn. It's a a motel feel without the chain stuff. It has a pool. You can walk to town for dinner at Santi. I thin you will pay $20-30 more a noc but IMO, it's worth it.

Re the Geyserville Inn, I stayed there last year with my SO and would never go back. The innkeeper was very pushy re recommendations for food and the like, and when we said we were going somewhere else, she replied there must be "something wrong with us." She was so rude to us. I have never had that experience anywhere. She seemed nice at first, so I guess you just have to say yes to whatever she suggests. Just a warning. The accommodations were nice though.

Oops - pls disregard my post about the Geyserville Inn. We stayed at the Hope Merill Inn in Geyserville. That is where we ran into the situation w/ the innkeeper. I actually know nothing about the Geyserville Inn. Sorry about that.

That was nice of you to repost Megan! Aimee, in the heart of Geyserville in the old bank building is Meeker. Their reds are huge, we had purple teeth after a stop! Cynthia works during the week and she is a HOOT! You will love her and this experience.Tell her Rick and Linda from Louisville sent you. I did the splits for her, LOL.She'll give you some recommendations for smaller places. Have her call Rick at Amphora for a private taste in hiss cellars. Neat guy! Next to your hotel is a delicious deli/restaurant Hoffman House where you can get a great lunches for a winery picnic. Not your average deli! We took ours to gorgeous Lake Sonoma winery and ate on their deck. The lookout over Lake Sonoma is worth a look, too. Of course, don't miss Ferrari-Carrano for beautiful gardens. ahhh
