Best tower at Sheraton Maui?

We'll be there at the end of next month for at least 4 nights. Can anyone recommend which is the best tower? Any other tips about this resort?

THANKS!

I'm not sure what tower it's considered, but the Black Rock rooms facing the ocean are amazing. We were upgraded to one (gotta love hotels that take care of locals!) and the view was beautiful.

Vegaslover: We have stayed at the Sheraton many times in the past few years and we prefer Building 4. It is the tower that is located up against the side of Black Rock. If you get a room close to the ocean end, you can see all the way down the coast towards the Marriott, and it is gorgeous at night. If you do get a room in this tower, or a room on top of Black Rock, there is a parking lot in the back of the hotel that is easier access than the valet or other self parking. You just use your room key card and it lifts the parking gate. The hotel has been great about upgrades every time we have been there. We usually are upgraded at least one room level higher than we booked. Definitely make time to watch the sunset and cliff diving ceremony at the hotel. Their beachside bar is great, with live entertainment nightly and a fantastic view. If you want to rent the covered chairs on the beach, book early a.m. They are usually all reserved by 9:00 a.m. Also, the beach on the other side of Black Rock is really nice, and usually pretty empty. Have a great time in Maui!!

Hi SDAlly- We just booked our last 3 nights on Maui at the Sheraton in March 2006. This will be our 2nd time at the Sheraton. (5th time to Maui) I just booked the garden view room. With 12 and 14 year old boys we dont spend alot of time in the room. But, I am curious how you receive your one level upgrade there. Are you a Starwood member? Just wondering what I can do to get an upgrade at the Sheraton. We are staying in condo the 1st 5 days and wanted to end the trip some place that the kids could enjoy a great pool and snorkel area. Staying at the Sheraton they can also use the Westin Pool. I would love to upgrade to tower #4 as you suggested. Mahalo for any information you can give me.

vegaslover: The first few times we stayed at the Sheraton we weren't Starwood members, but we were still upgraded. We are members now. Apparently it is pretty standard for them to upgrade you if there is availability. If it is a special occasion, be sure to let them know before you arrive. Unfortunately you are going at a much busier time of year, as we usually go in September, after school starts. Whichever room you get, I'm still envious. We still have 4 more months before we go.

Upgrades for rooms at the Sheraton or any Maui hotel are usually available if
(1) You ask for an upgrade,
and
(2) It is a slow season so there are lots of empty rooms at the hotel.
Slow season on Maui is spring and fall away from any holiday or school break. Busy season on Maui is winter and summer, especially around any holiday such as Christmas, New Years, Easter, or even President's Day (when many schools are off so families are traveling).

LOTS of great information about Maui hotels, restaurants, sights and activities is at
