All of the months you mentioned would be extremely hot and humid - normally. I don't really know whats going on with our weather this year however. It is 1 week till June and so far its been colder than normal with alot more rain than usual.
In a normal year I would pick Sept. since kids are usually back in school then but that might not be important to you.

For crying out loud. If the poster should avoid Charleston during hurricane season then you might as well avoid the entire East Coast, state of Florida, Gulf Coast, Caribbean, West Coast, Hawaii, and Japan. Every other place on the planet should be hurricane free. Oh, I forgot about avoiding Thailand and the Phillipines.

I think the best time to visit Charleston is the spring. Flowers are in bloom by mid April and the weather is wonderful. We have family there and make a point of visiting every year in March or April. She comes to see us in July when it is unbearable in Charleston.
