Jan or Feb is when the crowds are lowest. We have been to Disney 7 times. Twice in October. Once in October was our absolute best and once in October was our absolute worse. They closed the park at 11:00 because it had reached capacity.

Hi Pierce,
Mid-October to Mid-November should be perfect with respect to weather (gradually becoming cooler with lower humidity), diminishing hurricane threat, and smaller crowds.

Take a look at the following website for crowd level guidance.

January is great crowd wise, but it can be cold. Crowds are generally lower Oct - Nov, but some weekends, like Columbus day, can still be crowded. I have found this site to be reliable in terms of crowd predictions.

The best time to visit is Christmas at Disney World. Everything is dressed up in it's Christmas finest. If you can go November 15 to December 15 you'll miss most of the crowds. (The week of Thanksgiving gets a little busy.)

TheDisneyDad, call me jaded, but I smell a rat (or should I say a Mouse)?
