There's a lot of great places for BBQ in Texas, but I thought Don hit in on the head. Kreuz's, Smitty's and Black's in Lockhart are the cream of the crop.

One simple rule : Find a place with an outdoor BBQ. If they're cooking indoors, pass it up & keep searching.

As soon as I get off the plane in Texas, the first thing I do is drive straight to Lockhart. We always go to Black's for the SAUSAGE (never had the ribs) on the way to visit relatives. We buy a case of 25 on the way out the door.

On our way back thru Lockhart on the way home, we always eat at Kruez.... more SAUSAGE. I like them all in Lockhart!! Maybe I should try the ribs.

I've also had Salt Lick, Stubbs and County Line but nothing compares to Lockhart's SAUSAGE.

It's gotta be the little place by the crossroads in Banderas. This was the real deal. Looks like they've been simmering the brisket since the days of Wyatt Earp.
