Best restaurants in Honolulu?
I'm going to Hawaii at the end of the month (October) and would love some restaurant recommendations for Honolulu and the surrounding area. I will travel for a great and unique meal!
I'd love authentic Hawaiin places and/or anything that is a stand out.
Any place with a really great atmosphere (ocean views, beautiful outdoor seating) would be great as well.
Thanks in advance!

Hau Tree Lanai and New Otani hotel in Waikiki has ocean views and beautiful outdoor seating you request.

The restaurants at Halekulani always get good comments.
Personally I have found my very best meals at the inexpensive places like the shrimp trucks, food courts, etc. you find around.
Blue Water Shrimp & Seafood has a truck on Kuhio plus a shop in the International Marketplace. Where for $12.95 you get a huge plate of incredible fresh food (like shrimp, opakapaka,or mahimahi, with veggies, rice, salad).
ME Korean BBQ at the Royal Grove is a counter-style place with only outdoor patio seating off the sidewalk. Great fresh food for $5 at breakfast $9 lunch or dinner.

I love the Poki - at Sam Choy's - a very popular locals spot just beyond Chinatown in Hono - toward the airport. It's a bit more upscale than just a neighborhood place - but still a blast.
And for Ocean Views/setting - agree that it's hard to beat the Hau Tree Lanai at the New Otami.

Thanks all! I went on my trip in October armed with many of your great suggestions and we ate well! Alan Wong's was a true eating experience - every course was unbelievable.
All was wonderful and I hope your continued replies helps the next person planning their trip to Oahu!
