all commercial luaus are just that. for entertainment, Smith's is still favored probably because dancers are required to have hula experience rather than hire based on looks then teach a hula dance, big difference. Smith's does get crowded. i've been to all here on kauai and recently to kilohana, which i liked because it's not as crowded as Smith's. i heard the cost is $99 per person at kilohana. i sat with a couple said they sat in on one of those timeshare presentation for THREE hours to receive $25 admission for two people at Kilohana. good luck.

I see I'm way past "hopefully's" question, but we went to the Sheraton luau in the spring of 2007 and enjoyed it - good food, good show and we'd certainly recommend it. We chose it in part because its location was convenient to our condo in the south, but also because of travel guide recommendations. Commercial? I guess so. But I love to attend folkloric dance, music or theater productions and try the customary food as well when I visit a place with its own distinct culture. We're returning to Kauai next month and I was hoping to see more responses as we'd like to try a different luau. Anybody else out there who likes luaus and has any recommendation? Thanks, mb54
