Best lobster/seafood

We are planning a short trip to the Ogunquit, York, Wells, Portland area. We have been a few times, but would like a local's perspective (Or anyone with a deep love of lobster/seafood) to share opinions on the best place. Ambience is not an issue, only tastiness.

Just posted on your thread in the Lounge suggesting Joshua's for haddock and Mikes for lobster and clams etc.... It is the perfect time of year to visit. We often stay at Seachambers.com due to its beautiful view and relative affordability and greekstyle pool overlooking the everchanging tidal ogunquit river.

De nada!

I've only had oysters at the bar, but this place was taken over by the previous'hurricane" The owners are the notorious "Arrows" partners. Great location in Perkins cove, worth a gamble for the view alone.

Nothing like a trip to Nubble Lighthouse in York. Make sure you take the shore road that leads you into Perkins Cove, Ogunquit.....that is one beautiful way to beat the traffic~~~~~~~

Not sure if the last poster was answering the Steamers? question, but steamers are STEAMED, not FRIED clams and I have never heard them referred to as soft shell in over 30 years in Maine. To eat the, the "foot" is used as the handle for dipping and then you just bite the clam off.

Back to the original question, in the Portland area you should go to the Lobster Shack in Cape Elizabeth - ambience and good food.

I happen to be one of those disgusting folks who likes to eat the foot along with the rest of the steamer. Just take off the "sweater".

Maybe bennie and kealalani, being from MA, we're just used to having our foot in our mouth.
