Best Islands in the US?
I've got islands on my mind as I start to think about summer travel in the US. While there are so many great oceanfront and lakefront destinations, I think there's something special about an island (especially if there's a boat ride involved). What are your favorites?
I love taking the ferry to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.

Vieques, Culebra and Culebrita -- east of Puerto Rico (PR is pretty wonderful as well). But I'm guessing you want to know about islands off the "mainland".... Still, no passport required for US citizens.

Mackinac Island where no automobiles are permitted. It has the gorgeous Grand Hotel and has been featured in a couple of movies including Somewhere In Time.
