Please help with Caribbean Destination!

My sister missed out on a trip to Hawaii because her husband asked for a divorce only two weeks before their trip. Now she has a voucher for the airfare that must be used by the beginning of February and she has asked me to go with her on an extended weekend vacation to somewhere in the Caribbean (voucher is for $600 so foolish to spend it on something closer to home; we're from Michigan).

We are looking at going at the end of January and for a four day weekend. We have been to St. Thomas, St. John, Bahamas, and St. Martaan (sp?). I am tempted to go to Nevis...prefer small, quiet island with a good scenic hike and decent snorkeling. Like the thought of seeing monkeys. But other suggestions are welcome. Our budget is limited as far as accomodations (probably not more than 350 a night) and would like a clean place with a nice tropical ambience (nice view would be great with pool service, perhaps). Don't want to dress up for dinners.

Suggestions?
Also, would we still have time to get passports? If not, I think we could still go to the Virgin Islands, right? Would St. Croix be a good choice for snorkeling and hiking?

Thanks!

Just a slightly different suggestion but if you like hiking, views & small & quite, what about Saba? I know diving is great there. Snorkeling I'm not so sure about. No beaches but pools available & also a spa.

You have enough time to get a passport.

Nevis is an unforgettable place, but I think you would have to overnight in Miami, which would shorten your escape time. It would probably be a better vacation when you have more time.
Because you've been to STT and STJ,St. Croix would be a good choice to do four days and they have a variety of accommodations. You may want to check into a B&B there called Carrington's Inn. Dynamite breakfasts - think rum soaked french toast. Powdery beaches, dining at interesting restaurants and exploring the colonial history of St. Croix are also reasons to consider this island.

QAccording to the US Dept of State "Q. Will travelers from U.S. territories need to present a passport to enter the United States?

No. These territories are a part of the United States. U.S. citizens returning directly from a U.S. territory are not considered to have left the U.S. territory and do not need to present a passport. U.S. territories include the following: Guam, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Swains Island and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Puerto Rico is not small but it usually takes less travel time to get there and you won't need a passport. It has El Yunque (the rain forest), nice beaches, snorkeling, Old San Juan, and bioluminescent bays.

My husband and are headed to Tortola in a few weeks and it seems to be a relaxed, casual island that you can take days trips to Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, Anegada,.. We are going for 5 days and staying at Long Bay Beach Resort which should be in your price range. You would need a passport but you might want to play it safe and pay the extra money to expedite it.
