Best Hotel Miami

hi!!! My parents love going to ny and miami once a year. in ny they'll stay at the ny palace.
In Miami, For the last 15 years they have stayed at the fontenbleau hilton (last time they went it was several weeks before it closed and it wasn't a hilton anymore...) the thing is they will be going in mid february and have booked at the SHERATON BAL HARBOR...
from what I read on tripadvisor it is also quite old and not so good anymore...
any suggestions on comments??
I wanted them to try the new Aqualina, but my dad says is way too much to pay 875 for an ocean room per night...and he's right, it's really expensive!!
What do you think????any other hotel?? good things about the sheraton bal harbor?
please help!!!!!
thank you!!!!

The Sheraton Bal Harbor is very nice. it is located about 99th and Collins, which is about 30-45 minutes from South Beach. It is nar the little area/town od Surfside and across from the Bal Harbor Shops. It has been remodeled from time to time. While it is old it is in nice shape generally.

I've stayed at both places you've mentioned, but much preferred the Loew's, which is also more convenient to Lincoln Road and the places of South Beach.

Thank you for your answers! unfortunally the loews is also too expensive, at least the dates they are going. (695 ocean view double room)
anything else?

If you don't have to stay in South Beach, what about the Ritz Carlton in Key Biscayne? It is a beautiful hotel, although I don't know if they will have any availability at this point.

When are they going?

If it is one of the busy weeks (Boat Show, Art Basel, Superbowl, President's Week) everything may be $695. From the prices of the Loews that sounds like the case.

Are their dates flexible?

What about the new Fontainebleau _Tower_? I think one can get very nice rooms for much less than the prices which were quoted in this thread. The ongoing renovation of the original Fontainebleau buildings could be a problem though.

Definately would not stay at the Bal Harbour location unless they intend on spending all their time at the shop of bh and the beach..hotelis way outdated, but has been under renovations..

New Fountainblue Tower is supernice and the construction does not pose a prob.
