Best helicopter tour in Kauai

I'll be on my honeymoon in February and have heard that Kauai via the air is a can't-miss. I know there have probably been numerous discussions on this topic, but any new, recent experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.....

I just got back from 15 days in Hawaii (all 4 island) with my family (11 people total). My fi and I took a side trip on out own to Kauai - thank God we did. What a beautiful place! We took the a helicopter tour with Inter island Helicopters – http://www.hawaiian.net/~interisland/index.html. It was spectacular. We did the waterfall landing tour that ran about $250/person, but it was well worth it. The pilot was great and showed you all of the amazing sites of the island. ½ way through the flight you land at a secluded waterfall, have lunch, and then frolic in the pool of the waterfall. An once-in-a-lifetime thing to do! I would definately suggest it!

Went on my honeymoon there in July. I think most people agree that Island Helicopters is the best company. (The pictures of Harrison Ford and Clint Eastwood taking the tour probably support that.)

It was also rated #1 by Frommers. The website is http://www.islandhelicopters.com/, and you get a discount for booking online.

Have fun, it was worth it!

Nicole/Sherry:
Thanks for your feedback....I looked at both company's websites and they each looked great.

Any other experiences out there, good or bad, would really be appreciated....thanks again!

Doug, we took the same tour as Nicole in September. Loved it - she forgot to mention the helicopter had NO DOORS! (That's why I wanted it so bad). Even though we were in the back, we saw everything. Going through the wettest place on earth, with the rain going sideways through the helicopter, and the wind threatening to rip my sunglasses and headphones off my face, was a thrill worth every one of those 500 dollars! If I had it to do over, I'd look for the longest tour for the money (of course taking safety record into account), and wouldn't hesitate to use Interisland again.

Jack Harter was our fave. Took everything slow and didn't try and act like TC on Magnum PI like the time we flew with another company, who is now out of business. He also circled around the NaPali so we could all get a great shot of a rainbow in the backdrop.

Looks like Inter Island is getting some good reviews of late.

I was in Kauai in Sept. The advice on interisland depends on how chicken you are. I am a big chicken, get airsick and had never been on a helicopter before, so we went with Air Kauai. They are the only tour that shuts off their blades for boarding and I felt very secure and not a trace of airsickness. We only had one picture that showed a reflection from the window, all the rest were spectacular. They told us our pilot was nicknamed, Steady Warren. Any tour of Kauai has to be the greatest because that scenery is unbelievable, moved me to tears really.
