A couple places friends and I used to frequent for brunch when I lived there were: Aquitaine, Brasserie Jo, Tremont 647, Sister Sorel (the waitstaff wears their PJs for Sunday brunch - it's the sister restaurant to Tremont 647), and Henrietta's Table (inside the Charles Hotel). Henrietta's and Brasserie Jo are open for breakfast daily. There are many great places for breakfast...there are just a few favs. Enjoy your visit!

I suggest The Bristol, at the Four Seasons. Wonderful window tables overlooking the Common.
Also suggest The Federalist at XV Beacon, lovely atmosphere and close to the Common.
Parker's at the Parker House Hotel also serves breakfast and is very *Bostonian*.
You specified "breakfast" rather than brunch. If you're asking about weekend brunch there are many more options.
Enjoy !

I would say the Paramount Cafe on Charles St. in Beacon Hill, just a block or two down from the Common. Hands down. Check out the review and write-up: http://boston.citysearch.com/profile/4726455

My two daughters (9 and 12) love Brasserie Jo for breakfast - the chocolate french toast is SO GOOOOD (said in my daughter's best valley girl voice)!!! They like because it comes with chocolate sauce poured on top and their favorite waiter gives them the gravy boat full of chocolate and lets them go to town. Personally I like the fresh bread in paper sleeves that they put on the table. Its all good.
