Boston - formal breakfast, Back Bay area

Hi, would appreciate any suggestions for a nicer restaurant for breakfast (not brunch) near Copley place. Would prefer a stand alone venue as opposed to one of the hotel restaurants.

Thanks,

I think your lack of responses has to do with the fact that we can't seem to think of any non-hotel spot. I was going to suggest the Oak Room at the Copley Plaza or somewhere at the Four Seasons (sorry not sure if their Bristol Lounge serves breakfast but would guess that it does).

I was going to suggest the Ritz Carlton Hotel that overlooks the Public Garden.( Newbury and Arlington St.) The window in the café overlooks the P.G.

I agree with both the Copley Plaza and Ritz suggestions and would also suggest the Four Seasons. Unfortunately, there aren't that many restaurants in Boston or elsewhere that serve breakfast - that is normally the purview of hotels which must serve breakfast to their guests. A very few non-hotel affiliated restaurants serve a Sunday brunch but there aren't even that many who serve brunch. Breakfast is not a revenue producer for restaurants and is only done by hotels because they have to.

There are lots of places that do brunch in the area, but if you're looking for a formal one, then the others are right, the hotel options are the way to go.
If you want something casual, you will have many more choices!
