Best beach hotel in fort lauderdale area?

Considering Lago Mar and Villa Caprice. Any other suggestions for a quiet, romantic getaway around here for hubby & me? Price doesn't matter but must be on beach.

My husband and I stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriot several years ago and loved it. I am actually considering a return trip this April.

I've stayed at the Harbor Beach Marriott about 5 times for business
(7 days each time) and it's a great hotel and location. Take the water taxi to dinner one night. If it's still there, I loved the restaurant Zanzibar on Las Olas (try the ostrich appetizer.)

If you're talking about Villa Caprice at LBTS, I don't think it's there anymore ...We used to stay there but it was sold last year to build condos -- some say it was going to stay open for one more year, but I haven't heard anything definite

Key:

Can't recommend any motels to you. I did that with Little Inn by the Sea in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, FL and got blasted because it wasn't a completely sound proof property. It is oceanfront and farther away from the crowd of Commerce & A1A. It isn't important where you stay in LBTS just keep to this beach town it is so quaint and enjoyable and alot less crowded. Even if you stay across the street from the ocean from El Mar Drive you will not feel that far from the ocean.
