Best B&B in Seattle.

Before we moved here (nearly 10 years ago) we stayed at a place called the Williams House in the Queen Anne area. It was charming and a great location. I don't know if it still is there, but maybe you can check it out on a good website for b&bs called pillowpoints.com or some other b&b listing. If you can't find Williams House, pillowpoints should have some other good listings.

I have stayed overnight in no B. & B. in Seattle, but two that are near my home and whose rooms I have seen are the Gaslight Inn and the Amaranth Inn. I think they stand out because both houses are substantial, handsome houses and the decorating was done, in both cases, by persons with a very good eye (and with a substantial budget I would say.) In other words, I would recommend a B&B because of the decor, mainly. Both places, although highly decorated, are not "over the top" and the room decor seems to be integrated with the house. Also, I would recommend these places if you like urban neighborhoods. Both are in neighborhoods with some texture. (Both have websites with lots of pictures.)

A few years ago we stayed at "Pension Nichole" which is a French-style pension right downtown overlooking the Market and the Harbor. Shared baths and spartan in some ways, but the location and reasonable price were great, as was the overall hospitality.

I've stayed at several B&Bs in Seattle - can't remember the names of them all, but I remember the Bacon and Hill House in Capitol Hill, and one in Queen Anne. I liked the Bacon best because it was in a beautiful neighborhood but still close to Broadway, and the owners were super-nice. But, I've really moved away from staying in B&Bs. As much as I like having breakfast with fellow travellers, I prefer more privacy and the little conveniences, like cable TV and a bathroom of my own.

We just returned from 10 days in Seattle and British Columbia. Stayed 2 nights at the Capital Hill Inn B&B with mixed feelings. The owners (mother and daughter) are quite outspoken and politically opinionated...fine for us, but our Republican parents would have walked out. The bathroom needs better lighting and there was almost no space for toiletries (a real nuisance..pedestal sinks are beautiful but completely inefficient for travelers) Plastic cups and shampoo in small plastic envelopes were cheesy, and no hand towels...just minor 'niggles' of mine after years of B&B'ing. Capital Hill is in a very eclectic neighborhood, but one can walk to the Convention Center if you are active. Even though we don't usually enjoy group breakfasts with people we will never see again, this was an unusally interesting and pleasant group and the food was great, although rich. Parking is only available in the driveway..(they try very hard to make this work) otherwise its impossible to find a place nearby.
