Benbow Inn/Garberville & Morical Inn/Ashland??

Putting together a road trip and would like to know those that have experienced one or both of these Inns. They both seem expensive... are they worth the money. We'll be staying at the Benbow for 2 nights, the Morical, only 1 night. Thanks in advance for any input... Sandy

Hi sandy,

althought I haven't personally stayed at Benbow Inn, my boss has on several occasions. He really likes it. Last fall did a bike trip that was based from there. The restaurant there is supposed to be excellent as well.

Stayed at The Benbow Inn a number of years ago and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and it was a lovely old inn. The sitting rooms contained tables with jigsaw puzzles , beautiful antiques.

Thanks for the replies. Would love to hear from someone who has stayed at the Benbow recently. How are the rooms? Have they been kept up? Are they rustic or modern in appearance? Because of allergies, I don't want a cutesy B&B look or scent. Thanks again for any input.

Sandy,
The Benbow Inn is one of our very favorite places, have stayed there several times, but the last time was a few years ago, after the big renovation. Check out the website, there are good pictures of the rooms. They're very nice and "modern", very clean, a little Old English style, just enough to give them character. No frou-frou or cutesyness. We like the newer rooms with a private patio overlooking the gardens. Restaurant has gorgeous food, on a par with SF, yet the place sits all by itself in the woods. Take their mountain bikes and ride thru the forest. They have a theatre showing old classic movies--beautiful antiques and games in the lobby. What a treat for you! If you go, let us know how it was.
