Beach Vacation

We would like to do a beach vacation with our kids. We want to stay on the Ocean or Gulf in a room that is ocean front! Our kids are 13,11 and 9. We would like a nice area that also has other things to offer.
We are open to any state! We would probably go in early June or late August.

The AL Gulf Coast is outstanding. There's pure white sand and clear blue water. There's a lot of attractions for the family. Stay at San Carlos near the T at I 59 and Beach Boulevard. You can take the kids to Pensacola Naval Museum home of the Blue Angels.

San Carlos Condo's @ 365 East Beach Boulevard, Gulf Shores, AL 251 - 967 - 9838.

How about South Padre Island Texas? http://www.sopadre.com/attractions/
If you wanted to be closer to home, check out anything between Panama City and Pensacola Florida. If you wanted to visit the Pacific Ocean, try Big Sur south of Monterey.

SC coast offers a LOT--Litchfield, Pawley's, Surfside. Lots to do--shopping,historic sites, sports. Good access by air.
Where are you coming from . Have you ever been to a beach for a vacation? Just wondering. Budget matters?
Wild Dunes and the Charleston area beaches.
Wilmington NC and good surfing beaches (unlike other places along the coast).

Yes, several beach vacations. We went 20+ yrs ago to Myrtle Beach, SC and loved it. But we've heard the area isn't as nice as it used to be. So we are looking for other options.
We are coming from Michigan.
Just looking for a nice beach front area with some things to do.

Litchfield and other beaches are south of MB. MB is jusst a jumble of high rises and traffic jams. No, it isn't very nice, but if you know the area you might enjoy the quiet beaches south of there. You will need to move along on reservations for that time, probably anywhere. Late August may be easier, as many schools start by mid-August and things thin out.
You might inquire of Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort on line. There is a variety of accomodations in lovely buildings.
