baronne street lodgings in new orleans

My boyfriend just booked us a hotel at 201 baronne street in new orleans. definitely not a hop and a skip away from the french quarter he said but it was what was available. help...is it too far a walk to bourbon street? is this area safe? i know that there are some parts in NO that are a little worrisome when it hits dark. thnks guys!!

actually it is just a block from the Quarter. Not the best location but not bad either. You'll be fine.

just quiet at night. It's only 1/2 block from the Fairmont Hotel's front doors.

201 Baronne is a block from Canal Street, which is the entrance to the Quarter. You will be about 2.5 blocks from Bourbon.
It's safe too, but if you ever do not feel safe, a cab ride would probably cost you about $5 from anywhere in the Quarter.

the problem is not location, it's the hotel! I checked the 'net and 201 Baronne is the Travlodge Baronne Plaza, a nightmare of a place when we stayed there in 2001. Bad service and ugly rooms made for a bad night. We left and walked over to a new Drury Hotel the next day.
