Bar near 14th Street?

Next month we will have a swarm of visitors. One couple in their thrties want to go to a bar or bars near East 14th Street up to E 28 Street.

Last visit they liked Beauty Bar. They want to avoid frat bars and places like Super Dive or those where will be a line. Do you have recommendations?

Thanks.

Otto's Shrunken Head 14th b/t A & B (the old Barmacy)
Rififi - fine it is on 12th (b/t 1st and 2nd)
Belmont on Irving/15th can be fine.

the 1st 2 are similar vibe to Beauty Bar, the latter not as much

Generally the east side area above 14th is fairly frat/khaki crowd and I would avoid...Can I ask why that limited area?

Yikes. I just looked at the website for the Beauty Bar. I withdraw my suggestion.

Old Town would be OK.
Black and White might work.

The area is limited because they are from out of town and they want some place between our place and their hotel.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Adu - Can it be that the reason your visitors want to hit bars north of 14 Street is that they know you hang out in joints below 14 St and they are wise enough to stay away from places where you are known?

There are approximately 16 bars within two blocks of us. Most seem to attract a crowd where both you or I would stand out. For different reasons.

There is one bar which looks like an old Brooklyn bar, where it is darker after they turn the lights on, the newest guy has been there for thirty years, and they have the only black ans white set left in America. But that is not for niece and her significant other, a term that is banned in that establishment.
