Baltimore,Charleston or Boston in July?

Hi all
Planning a long weekend to an east coast city for this July....any recommendations?
Love Boston....but was thinking of a change of pace....maybe Baltimore?
Charleston, SC is a possibility too....although I'm not a big fan of the heat down there in
the summer. Just want to find some good seafood, shop and maybe golf for
4-5 days...
thanks much

I didn't find Baltimore a great shopping town. Amazing aquarium. Good seafood, probably interesting history and prettier in the summer. But really kind of an ugly city in the midst of urban renewal was my impression. Haven't been to Charleston. If you like Boston- have you been to Philadelphia? That's probably my second favorite city after Boston in the east.

It's true, we ain't too pretty... But there is plenty to keep you busy in Baltimore for a long weekend. As noted above, the aquarium is first class. There are also a few good museums, notably the American Visionary Arts Museum, and the Baltimore Museum of Art, which has an amazing Matisse collection. Add to that steamed crabs, waterfront restaurants (in general a good eclectic restaurant scene), and maybe an Oriole game, it can be very nice over a weekend. Shopping? People aren't so interested in it around here - we're not particularly rich. So if that's a big key for you, you'd probably do better elsewhere.

Yes, Baltimore SUCKS! Charleston is beautiful but so darn hot in the summer. Boston is another wonderful city and will be much cooler in the summer than Charleston. Boston has so much history, great restaurants and shopping.

OK, guys.
Baltimore has some issues, BIG ones, but it also has some Fabulous theater and music venues, Everyman Theater, Center Stage, The Lyric Opera, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerhoff, The Peabody, the Hippodrome Center, etc. There are many others that host world class musicians, plus blues and jazz clubs.

The Cone Collection at the BMA and the collections at the Walters Gallery are magnificent! Evergreen is a wonderful House/Museum.

Anyone with an interest in music and art could happily fill a few days here.

It's HOT here in Charleston in July. It's also hurricane season. I'd avoid Charleston until October.

I'd avoid most of the US east coast in July. How about Canada?

Of the 3, I would pick Boston - mostly because of the weather which can be hot, but not as bad as Baltimore or Charleston.

Would you consider Portland, Maine. I know - thinking who goes to Portland? Scenery - lighthouses, coast. Beach if you want. Cute little downtown with non-chain shops. Restaurants. A small art museum. I don't golf - but there must be some golf courses.

If you are flying, check Boston or Manchester, NH. Rent a car. If people say you are crazy, spend the first of last night in Boston.

I'm still on the fence....but thanks for all
the info. Trying to decide if I want to deal with all the heat
in Charleston in July....are there fun things to do indoors during the
summer down there?
Thanks again!

I thought this was a joke when I saw the title.

JULY - Boston - duh

No offense to Baltimore and Charleston but in July - are you kidding? No contest.

If you had said March I'd say Charleston for sure.

How about Portland Maine? Great eclectic shopping in Old Town and great restaurant scene. Day drives north or south.
