Avoid Tidewater Golf

We played Tidewater. VERY disappointing. The Fodor's golf guide rates it at four stars, but it's more like two stars and very expensive for a course in such poor condition. Fairways very thin. Poor drainage, muddy. Tee boxes mostly dirt. Greens poorly maintained. And the claim that it's the Pebble Beach of the East is ludicrous. No ocean views. No oceanside holes. A silly comparison. Fodor's should re-evaluate their ranking.

i think golf digest also gives it 4 stars.

my husband played there about 6 years ago and enjoyed it.

they are probably having financial problems. what a shame.

i agree, no pebble beach..

Well, what's wrong with it being the first post? What's wrong with it being the ONLY post?

If that is they way they feel then I say they have a right to express it.

They most certainly have the right to express their opinion.

My daughter plays Tidewater fairly often as well as South River Colony (both managed by the same company) and says it's a fine course.

To be honest though, theres never been any claims as to ocean views and oceanside holes since the course is NOT on the ocean.

WHICH Tidewater course? The one on North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina IS on the ocean.

I think the issue with a first post being this type of post is that many people will feel the author is not really interested in sharing information but search the web for venting outlets.

I'm not saying that's the case here but that's the impression I would get.

There's another new poster venting about a time-share gone bad. I may find that thread and see the type of comments that one got.

If you haven't been to Pinehurst, try it for a Myrtle Beach alternative. Much more peaceful and scenic. I haven't been back to MB since I tried Pinehurst.
