Are you not planning on going to any casinos? If you don't want to gamble, pick another city/town on the shore. I was highly disappointed at that state of that city-very dumpy and the boardwalk was terriblely shabby compared to others down the shore.

Check out the Sheraton Convention Center Hotel - it's located just off the Boardwalk very near all of the new shopping outlets and pets are allowed.

We want to go to AC on a day/night trip from OC Md., I know there used to be a ferry that did this, but I do not know the name(s) or anyway to get any ifo. If this service is still available. Can anyone help? Thanks! Which casino would anyone recommend, and @ what ages do they allow children ( older ones) in them?

Don't know of any direct ferry connections but there is a ferry that runs from Cape May -- about 40 miles south of AC -- to Lewes, DE.
As for kids in the casinos, none are permitted in the gambling areas of any hotel. The Borgata, I believe, also has age restrictions throughout the hotel except for the children of registered guests. Many casinos have rooms filled with arcade games to entertain older children. Harrah's Marina at one time had a nursery where children could be left for a couple of hours. I don't know if that's still in existence or if any other hotels offer such services.

Atlantic City is a pit!

Walk around on the boardwalk for a bit, get some saltwater taffy and head someplace else -- Philly perhaps?
