Are you ready for some football? How far would you travel for a big game?

Roll Tide Roll!!! In my younger days, I went by auto from South Alabama to bowl games in Dallas (Cotton), New Orleans (Sugar) and Miami (Orange) to watch my beloved Crimson Tide (the University of Alabama.) I love SEC football!!

Our DH played college football, Starrsville, and we traveled all over the US to some of the greatest stadiums to see some great football! We even bought a new car just for game trips. So I guess the answer to how far WE would travel is, we'd travel just about anywhere.

No, moosely, I meant a "Serious" neighborhood SB party - where our eating of junk food, laughing and talking and shhhh!!!-ing with "the commercial is coming on" would offend the Serious SB watcher!
Heck, I LOVE SB parties! I've just learned there's more to ask before accepting an invitation to the next one!

oh, that makes more sense- the family rule is that if you want to totally concentrate on the game- lock yourself in the bathroom or don't go to the party (because everybody is everywhere)- but most serious SB fans I know, are so into the game- it would take a natural disaster to distract them

JJ5 - Just to make it clear, we do move inside for the game. Most everyone leaves before the game except for about 4 others who are season ticket holders with us and also serious fans. The others don't care that they have to leave, they don't want to watch the game with us anyways and are happy to have an afternoon of fun and food. I have a question for GoTravel, where do all of the "normal" fans park at South Carolina games? There are tens of thousands of fans there that can't have the prepaid parking.

KathyK- the ones who stay are ALL serious Bears fans and football people. They don't overtalk the game.
I was wondering how you watched it outside. Although we did that with a crowd of 15 or so for the World Series last year in October. Neighbors even set up do it yourself stands. People just don't stay at our Sports events and ask "What inning is it?" or "Who is that player?" They know.

moosely, I watched Price and Prejudice recently and as I saw all the butlers and footmen lurking in the shadows, I thought "What tales they could tell!"
I am glad you are taking the defense seriously, though we all know... the butler did it, in the library, with a lead pipe.
I propose a Clue or Scrabble tournament at the next SB party!

JJ5 - I find that the interest level in the game depends on whether the home team is playing. The Bills haven't been in the Super Bowl in about 14 years (as long as we've been having our party). People are more apt to socialize during the watching of the game (especially women) if the local team isn't playing. I'm a huge fan and don't want to be expected to "visit with the women" during the game.
