Kam,
Your latest posting changes everything. I think you need to raise a little hell here. You were booking a ticket for a passenger with special needs and made sure to book early enough in advance so as to book her in a seat not obscured by engines because she gets dizzy when she can't have a view of the horizon. Yes, AA has the RIGHT to do this as all coach seats have the same dollar value, but for you it makes a big difference.
It is worth a try, stress the fact that you booked in advance specifically to get her out from under the shadow of the engines. Hopefully, the squeaky wheel will get the bulkhead seat in your case. If not that, given the fact that the coach cabin is jammed packed there is good chance that a frequent flier onboard who booked coach will ask for an upgrade to first. This would open up a seat for your grandmother. Good luck, I'm pulling for you bud.

Kam - your comments on how many times AA has changed flight and flight numbers are worth noting for everyone. I fly AA regularly and since 9/11 my flights are frequently (almost routinely) changed a few times if I make the reservations several months in advance. Apparently in an effort to keep planes full they keep shifting things even though departure and arrival times don't usually vary all that much. They have even changed me from a non-stop direct to making a change-over and did not notify me in advance.
