We used to always eat at Moose's at least once when in SF. This year we stayed two weeks just a couple blocks from there, but never ate there. We stood and looked at their menu one evening and couldn't get inspired -- it seemed very limited and nothing seemed to turn us on. Meanwhile it was about 8:30 and the place was half empty as opposed to the way it used to be -- always packed.
I'm not saying it's gone downhill, but you can draw your own conclusions like we did -- whether right or wrong.

Hi tinathetoad, I use to enjoy Moose's, especially for their Sunday Brunch. I haven't been there for awhile but people that I know that have (all SF or south of SF residents) have not been pleased with it these last months. Per you question and Neo's comments I Googled this restaurant and found that a good percentage of the reviews were not pleased with Moose's this year. The reviews more or less followed the same complaints that people I know have commented on. So if you only have so many days in SF to enjoy various restaurants you might want to skip this once great restaurant. But of course we all have different expectations and reactions to places, what one person does not like another does.

If only Herb Caen were to come back...Moose's would quickly be what it once was.

Oh Underhill, I miss Herb Cain so much! The Sacto Boy sure was Mr. SF!
Did you and your husband by any chance to to the day honoring him in SF? We did, it was so much fun!! One of those "only in SF" days.
