Any idea which hotel this might be?

I searched Hotwire for a hotel this weekend (Jan. 25-27) and was shown a 4 1/2 star hotel located in Midtown East for $119 per night. Anybody know which hotel this could be. Thanks for your help.

I used Hotwire Christmas week and the "41/2 star Midtown East" hotel we got was The Barclay, an Intercontinental Hotel. 111 East 48th Street Great hotel, great location. We paid $250, so 119 looks like a fantastic bargain. Would definately stay there again. I am guessing that is the same one Hotwire is quoting you.

A friend of mine bid for us recently and the 4 1/2 star we took was also the Barclay - LOVED IT!

If you do "take" this, will you let us know what it turned out to be? Thanks!

With the silly rating system Priceline has, it could be anything, including a cardboard box in an alley. What is 4 and a half stars?

xxx ([email protected]): before you leave a foolish post, you should really know what you are talking about; The discussion is HOTWIRE, not PRICELINE

abc, Priceline uses the same 1/2 star system as hotwire. Guess what else, neither one of their systems is worth a flip. THE HOTELS ARE RATING THEMSELVES.

Yes, the hotels do rate themselves, but a 4 1/2* on Priceline is not the same as a 4 1/2* on Hotwire. The OP is looking at a 4 1/2* on hotwire, which very well could be a 4 on Priceline. It's good to compare what hotels others have won on hotwire with the same star level and location you are looking at, just to see what the hotel might be. This hotel; could also be the Millennium UN Plaza, which is a very nice hotel, but is currently offering a stay 3 nights get a 4h night free on another site. Can't remember where I saw that - maybe travelzoo.com? Anyway it's a good idea to really shop around these days, I think both hotwire and priceline have raised the bar a bit on the prices they will accept, and with some of the "deals" on other sites, you need to know what's out there before you bid.

Priceline and Hotwire hotel stars do NOT necessarily match. And, both change their stars and areas constantly.

Anyway, when I booked a 4-1/2 star Midtown East through Hotwire, it was the Waldorf Astoria (and a very nice room, not one of those "staff" rooms).

You won't know for sure until after you book.
