any good off Broadway Plays you've seen?

Have you seen any good comedy or musical Off Broadway plays ?
What are good Musical or Comedy Broadway plays playing? I want something light and entertaining. I saw Alter Boyz and loved it.

I'm going to NYC and would like to see one On and one Off....
Thanks you for any recommendations.

I was in the city last week and saw Ave.Q and had a lot of laughs. Actors hold Sesame Street type puppets who are the characters and i didn't know who to watch sometimes, the person or the puppet, but my adult son and I enjoyed it. Off Broadway, I saw Ruined at City Center. It is not a musical, definitely not a comedy, but was good. You may not cry but will definitely get teary. It won a pulitzer prize.

Avenue Q and Ruined are both great. I'm not sure when you're coming, but Avenue Q is closing September 13, and Ruined is ending its limited run on September 6.

Great Broadway musicals right now: Billy Elliot, Hair, Next to Normal, In the Heights. They are all fantastic for very different reasons. Hair, Next to Normal, and In the Heights have discounts on broadwaybox.com

God of Carnage is a play and is returning to Broadway with its all star cast in September (James Gandolfini, Marcia Gay Harden, Jeff Daniels, Hope Davis.)

Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig are coming to Broadway in the play A Steady Rain. Previews begin September 10.

Tracy Lett's "Superior Donuts" is transferring from Chicago to Broadway in September (previews begin 9/16), and I can recommend this very easily. Saw this in Chicago and it's great. Lots of folks enjoyed this more than "August: Osage County."

Have a great time! I'm going for theater at the end of the month, myself! Can't wait. Don't you just LOVE New York?!
