I think "In the Heights" is the best new musical Broadway has seen in many years. Just terrific! Avenue Q is very very funny if you don't mind some off color humor, but it's closing on Sept. 13. Discounts are on broadwaybox.com Bye Bye Birdie will be revived starting Sept. 10. Brighton Beach Memoirs and Broadway Bound by Neil Simon play in repertory starting in Oct.

2 Tickets, Right Mezzanine Row G, Seats 18-20 Total Cost: $189.50USD
Pretty happy with that. We couldn't get in on our preferred nights of Oct 1- 6 but we 'have' to go back to NYC to catch a flight to LAX on Oct 14, we got in on that night. Thrilled, now I just have to 'win' a hotel in the Time Square-Madison Sq Gardens area and we are set.
Hope it helps.

Oooh, I'm so glad that you got tickets to A Steady Rain! I am bummed that I can't make it out to NYC this fall to see it.
Since it hasn't opened yet and is nearly sold out for the run, I highly doubt there will be discounts. However, if you sit in the rear mezzanine, you can get seats for less than $100, I believe.
Other shows I'd recommend, in no particular order: Billy Elliot, Wicked, Next to Normal, God of Carnage, Hair

Hi ac291,
Hands down - "Superior Donuts" by Pulitzer and Tony-winning playwright of "August: Osage County" is the show to see. Starts sometime in September at The Music Box Theatre. I saw this in Chicago -- LOVED this play and can recommend easily. I believe there's a discount here:

You might be able to get TKTS discount tickets, too, if you're there during previews. Once the show is reviewed, I think it'll be a hot ticket to get. It's really a wonderful, funny, moving play.
This last weekend (8/28-8/30), I saw "Our Town" off-Broadway at the Barrow Street -- nice direction, lovely show, a bit sentimental for my taste - but the audience LOVED it. Also, bought a TKTS discount ticket for "Next to Normal" on a Saturday night - great performances, entertaining, not a perfect show, but I wasn't at all disappointed in paying $60 for the ticket.
Have a great time!
