Any fun ideas for kids in Dallas/Ft.Worth?

Can you recommend any fun or educational activities for boys, 11 & 8, in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? My husband wants to go stand on the grassy knoll and go the book depository, but we need to have something for the kids to do as well. Thanks in advance for any help.

There is a Six Flags and a Water Park in Arlington, along with the Texas Rangers baseball team. In Dallas there is a Children's Museum but it doesn't get very good reviews.

Dallas has a great acquarium for kids. Not the one at Fair Park, but it's right in downtown. It's the Dallas World Acquarium. My 8 year old LOVES it. The Fort Worth Zoo is well worth the trip. I prefer it to the Dallas Zoo. The Fort Worth Museum of Science and History is a great children's museum. Also, the Japanese Gardens in the Fort Worth Botanical gardens are very nice and the kids can feed the koi.

There is also a big water park called Hurricane Harbor right across the street from Six Flags in Arlington. Arlington is mid-way between Dallas and Ft. Worth.

Malibu Speedway has go carts and larger cars that race plus putt putt and a large game room. I-35 to the NW of downtown Dallas, between I-30 and I-635.

Malibu is LONG gone, but Speed Zone is still there. The boys might be a little too young to drive the bigger cars (I think you have to be 18), but they will like the go-karts and the gameroom.

Catch a Texas Rangers game! they are doing GREAT this year!!

The Rangers game might be tough to manage since the trip is planned for April 2006. But thank you all for your suggestions. It seems as though there is certainly enough to keep the kiddos busy for a few days.

I suggest taking them to the FW Stockyards to see the long horn cattle on its daily voyage. While there, let the boys race through the the cowpen maze. There is also a weekend rodeo.

They might also like Gameworks at Grapevine Mills.
