We really would like to visit Alaska or the Canadian Rockies. Any thoughts on visiting the first week of October?

Will this be a poor time to view wildlife? Will there be anything to do?

Also, where to stay with a luxury/romantic place with a beautiful swimming pool.

Go to the Banff Springs Hotel. Beautiful spa and many restaurants and shops. Truly a stunning resort.

Also the Jaspar Park Lodge is stunning also. Check out their websites.

Definitely go to the Canadian Rockies and stay at the Banff Springs Hotel.

We have been to the Canadian Rockies end of September/first of October twice and would highly recommend it. Most things will still be open, but there will be less crowds. You can certainly find wildlife at that time. We stayed at the Post Hotel in Lake Louise - the pool is not beautiful, but the accomodations are great!
