Amelia Island

Hi,

My husband and I are heading to Amelia Island to celebrate our 15 year Anniversary. We are leaning towards staying at the Ritz - we feel like splurging. I would like to know if anyone has stayed there recently and if it's worth the money.

Thanks
Judy

We have stayed at the Ritz on Amelia Island several times in the past three years and we like it very much. We stayed on the Club Floors and felt that was well worth the extra money, especially when we had friends with us as it gave us all a place to get together. Our nephew and his wife just celebrated their 5th anniversary there and they loved it. They thought it was very romantic. Have a great trip.

Thank you Cali for your response. I think it's a go for us, I will definitely check into the club floors.
Thanks
Judy

Let me preface this by saying I am not a 'Ritz' or 'resort type' but particularly for Amelia, the resorts are all on one part of the island well removed from the Old Town, Fort & other activities. If I were going 'top shelf', I would explore any of several B & B's in the Old Town so I could, in fact, walk to much of what there is to do there, just a thought.

I agree with SanParis, but if it's the Ritz you want, make sure to have a car so you can drive to all the other areas of the island worth exploring.

We did enjoy going into town and shopping and eating - if you have a car it is not all that far. We have had friends who have stayed in town and most have not been happy with the places they have stayed - the exception was friends who stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites. For luxury I love the Ritz. Whatever you choose, have fun.
